We are seeking an experienced Workshop Manager – Heavy Fabrication to join our team and lead a skilled group of tradespeople at our Bunbury Workshop. As Workshop Manager, you will oversee all fabrication activities, ensuring work is delivered safely, accurately, and to the highest quality standards. Key Responsibilities Manage day-to-day workshop operations, ensuring work scopes are delivered on time and within budget Lead and supervise fabrication teams, including boilermakers, welders, and trades assistants Plan workloads, allocate labour and resources, and coordinate materials Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and quality standards Maintain high levels of workmanship and quality control across all fabrication activities Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure on-time, quality deliverables Monitor productivity, costs, and drive continuous improvement initiatives Lead, mentor, and develop workshop personnel, fostering a strong safety and performance culture Oversee procurement of materials, consumables, and equipment for specific work scopes Provide technical guidance with a strong understanding of welding processes and procedures Ensure workshop equipment, tools, and machinery are properly maintained Develop monthly and weekly reports for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring accurate data and timelines Work closely with the tendering department to assist with project cost estimations, resourcing requirements and scheduling What You’ll Bring Australian-recognised trade qualification in fabrication (Boilermaker/Welder) with a high-quality skillset Strong knowledge of welding processes, materials, and fabrication standards Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings Proven leadership experience in a workshop or heavy fabrication environment Strong technical understanding of structural steel and fabrication processes Excellent organisational, problem-solving, and communication skills High commitment to HSEQ standards and safe work practices Ability to manage client relationships and provide technical oversight Competent computer skills, including Microsoft Office Commercial awareness with strong cost control and budgeting skills Proven ability to review scope of work, drawings, and specifications to support accurate pricing and delivery planning What We Offer Permanent, full-time role with long-term job security Attractive remuneration package Company vehicle Income protection and life insurance Supportive, locally owned business with a strong team culture At LGM Industries we offer you the opportunity to join a long established, successful, and locally managed business, committed to employing and retaining the most highly-skilled people, and we respect and value our people as our team’s knowledge and experience is the foundation for our success.
