We’re looking for an Undergraduate Accountant to join our Finance team in Brisbane. This role is designed for an accounting student who wants more than textbook learning — someone keen to build practical experience, lean into management accounting , and be part of a collaborative, social team environment. This is not a traditional financial accounting role posting journals or processing month-end. You’ll focus on management accounting — analysing profitability drivers, supporting budgeting and forecasting, and contributing to ad hoc analysis for the CFO, CEO and Board, all within a collaborative environment that’s invested in helping early career talent grow. We’re a tech-forward team, so an interest in systems, automation and emerging AI capabilities would be highly regarded. About the role In this role, you’ll support the Finance team across a range of activities that build core accounting capability, with a strong focus on management accounting. Your work may include: Supporting management reporting processes Assisting with budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis Providing finance support for new initiatives and business activity Contributing to continuous improvement and process uplift within Finance Building work plans and timelines and taking ownership of defined tasks Using and developing your skills across the Microsoft suite, particularly Excel This opportunity is an initial 6 week engagement. The role is two to three days per week, with flexibility to work around university commitments. About you We’re looking for an undergraduate who is genuinely interested in developing a career in accounting — particularly management accounting — and who enjoys working as part of a team. You’ll bring: Current undergraduate study in a Bachelor of Business (Accounting) Preference for students in their third year Second year students will be considered A strong interest in management accounting and how finance supports decision making Sound Excel capability (including formulas and basic modelling) Good attention to detail and time management Clear communication skills and a collaborative, team focused approach Nice to have Also studying technology/information systems and interest in AI capabilities Previous internship or relevant work experience (highly regarded) Exposure to financial analysis or reporting in a practical setting Confidence working across Microsoft tools Curiosity about how accounting connects to the broader business and career pathways Why QIC?
