This position full-time, permanent position, plays a central part in delivering a rich, high‑quality Music education experience across the school. The role combines classroom teaching with leadership responsibilities in the extra‑curricular program, supporting a vibrant culture of performance, collaboration and musical excellence. Working closely with the Head of Extra‑Curricular Music, you will contribute to curriculum delivery, ensemble direction, event coordination and the ongoing development of a dynamic, inclusive Music Department. Responsibilities Teach Music across High School, including Stage 6, with the possibility of some Primary classes. Conduct and support vocal ensembles and choirs, contributing to the school's performance culture. Coordinate elements of the extra‑curricular music program, ensuring smooth delivery of rehearsals, performances and events. Stage manage concerts and events, including equipment oversight, student coordination and rehearsal scheduling. Build and maintain relationships with other schools to develop collaborative musical opportunities and community outreach performances. Research, plan and administer student participation in external events, competitions and festivals aligned with departmental goals. About the candidate The ideal candidate is an engaging, knowledgeable and collaborative educator who brings both strong classroom practice and a passion for extra‑curricular music. They will be committed to fostering a love of music, supporting student growth, and contributing to a cohesive, high‑performing department. They will thrive in a team environment, demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills, and embrace the school's ethos and community values. The ideal candidate will possess: Proven experience teaching Music to Stage 6, ideally with an indepedent school, with strong knowledge of NESA syllabuses. Relevant tertiary qualifications, teaching accreditation with NESA, and a valid WWCC. Expertise in conducting choirs and vocal ensembles, with an understanding of choral pedagogy. Experience coordinating music events, ensembles or performance programs. Strong musicianship, with piano accompaniment skills considered an advantage.
