About the role Riverside Theatres is seeking skilled and motivated Theatre Technicians to join our technical team, working across our venues at Riverside Theatres and PHIVE. This hands‑on role suits technicians with experience in lighting, audio, staging and audio‑visual who enjoy the pace and variety of live performance and events. You’ll support a wide range of productions, including theatre, dance, music, comedy, and functions. The role involves setting up, operating and maintaining technical systems, including lighting, audio, AV and staging, as well as constructing and rigging scenic elements to ensure the smooth, safe and professional delivery of performances and events. Key Responsibilities include: Deliver professional technical theatre services across lighting, audio, vision and staging under the direction of the Technical Duty Supervisor and Duty Technician. Set up, rig, operate and maintain technical systems for productions and events, including lighting, sound, audio‑visual and staging equipment. Participate in bump‑ins and bump‑outs, including the construction, rigging and operation of scenic and flown elements and fly systems. Work collaboratively with production teams to interpret technical requirements and support the successful delivery of performances and events. Maintain a safe and compliant work environment by reporting faulty equipment, undertaking general stage duties, and responding to emergencies when required. About You The successful candidate should have previous experience operating and delivering technical theatre services for live performances and events, including lighting, sound, audio-visual, and staging. You will also bring the following essential requirements : Current Paid Working with Children Check. NSW Construction White Card Certification. Tertiary level certification in technical theatre, live performance, or related field, or relevant industry experience. Understanding of design principles (lighting, sound, vision, staging), technical skills in equipment setup and operation, and knowledge of various theatre equipment and applications. Proficiency in one or more technical theatre disciplines. Rigging / Doggers Certification. Test & Tag Certification. Elevated Working Platform (EWP) Yellow Card. What’s on offer: We are offering causal positions with a competitive hourly rate of $41.49, comprising of a $33.19 base rate plus 25% casual loading.
