This role is ideal for someone with industrial machine experience who enjoys practical work and being part of a process-driven production environment. You will operate recycling and separation machinery used to process end-of-life electronic equipment, working closely with forklift drivers and production staff to ensure safe and efficient operations. The Client: Located in the Fairfield region, this well-established operation is a leading specialist in the responsible recycling and recovery of electronic waste. The site focuses on processing end-of-life electrical and electronic equipment from commercial, industrial, and government sources, with a strong emphasis on environmental compliance, data security, and material recovery. The facility handles a wide range of e-waste streams including IT and telecommunications equipment, consumer electronics, batteries, and electrical components. Using a combination of manual dismantling and advanced processing techniques, materials such as metals, plastics, and circuit boards are separated and prepared for downstream recovery, ensuring minimal waste is sent to landfill. The Role: In this pivotal role, you will report to the Site Supervisor and operate recycling line machinery used to process and separate electronic waste materials. You will be responsible for the safe start-up, operation, and shutdown of equipment, monitoring material separation across multiple output lines, and completing manual sorting tasks where required. Working closely with forklift operators and production teams, you will help ensure efficient, safe, and compliant processing of electronic waste. Duties: Operate plant and equipment within the Recycling Facility to achieve operational outcomes Operating recycling line machinery used to separate electronic waste materials Start-up, shutdown, and end-of-shift breakdown of machinery Using basic stop/start and control panel systems Processing items such as full industrial printers through automated separation lines Monitoring material separation across multiple output lines (up to 13 streams including metals, plastics, and circuit boards) Bagging separated materials at the end of each line and moving them to designated storage areas Working alongside forklift operators who load equipment into funnels and hoppers Conducting manual sorting duties when required, including hand-sorting of materials Operating and monitoring optical sorting machinery Maintaining a safe and clean work area in line with site procedures Complete manual handling tasks such as hand sorting duties as required The Candidate: To be successful in this role you will have: Previous experience in the waste, recycling, or resource recovery industry as a machine operator is highly regarded Previous experience operating industrial machinery (compressor operators, waste operators, optical sorting machinery or similar backgrounds highly regarded) Embedded battery and electrical handling experience highly regarded Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot basic machine issues Strong attention to detail and quality control Experience operating automated control panel machinery Ability to follow instructions, work independently, and meet production deadlines Good communication and record-keeping skills Comfortable with manual work and rotating between machine operation and hand-sorting duties Strong focus on safety, reliability, and teamwork Forklift licence and operating experience highly regarded If this position sounds like you then hit APPLY now, alternatively email Dj on dpupualii@fuserecruitment.com with your resume.
