The organisation delivers longterm engineering and design support services across inservice assets, offering a stable and technically challenging environment within the defence and maritime sector. Your new role Reporting to the Project Engineering Manager, you will provide seniorlevel mechanical engineering support across complex platforms. This role focuses on mechanical systems design, integration and technical assurance, working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams and key stakeholders.Key responsibilities include: Delivering mechanical systems engineering across complex platforms, including: Propulsion and drive train systems Fuel, oil and water support systems Pumps, piping and auxiliary systems HVAC and refrigeration systems Sea water, fire main and washdown systems Fresh water, waste water and aviation fuel systems Compressed air, gas and hydraulic systems Undertaking technical investigations, root cause analysis and solution development Developing preliminary and detailed designs, installation guidance and test documentation Integrating mechanical systems at a platform level, considering space, interfaces and operational impacts Producing highquality engineering reports and technical documentation Planning and coordinating engineering activities from concept through to delivery Participating in design coordination and design review meetings Liaising with internal stakeholders, clients and subcontractors Supporting onboard installation activities, including work scopes and test procedures Providing mentoring and technical guidance to junior engineers Operating in accordance with WHS, environmental and quality requirements in a regulated environment What you'll need to succeed A Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering Experience in a mechanical engineering role within maritime, defence or heavy industry Strong experience across mechanical systems, hydraulics, pumps and piping Experience working in regulated engineering environments, including compliance with industry standards Ability to read and interpret mechanical P&IDs, drawings and technical documentation Experience using CAD tools such as AutoCAD or MicroStation Strong technical writing and reporting capability Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills Ability to work autonomously, manage multiple priorities and deliver in highpressure environments Eligibility to obtain and maintain NV1 security clearance What you'll get in return A longterm, stable role supporting complex, highvalue assets A senior technical position with influence over design and integration outcomes Opportunity to mentor engineers and contribute to capability development Competitive salary package aligned to experience A collaborative and professional engineering environment What you need to do now If you're interested in this role, click 'apply now' to forward an up-to-date copy of your CV to Holly.Powell@hays.com.au , or call us now.
