The organisation delivers longterm engineering, integration and sustainment services across highly regulated environments, offering a stable and technically challenging workplace. Your new role Reporting to the Project Engineering Manager, you will lead the mechanical engineering discipline, providing technical leadership and delivery oversight across complex platforms. This role blends handson mechanical engineering with people leadership, design coordination and stakeholder engagement.Key responsibilities include: Leading the mechanical engineering function across complex platforms and projects Providing technical authority across mechanical systems including: Propulsion and drive systems and associated support systems Pumps, piping and auxiliary systems HVAC and refrigeration systems Fire, sea water, fresh water and waste water systems Fuel, compressed air, gas and hydraulic systems Applying robust systems engineering processes to mechanical system design and integration Leading design coordination activities, technical investigations and root cause analysis Overseeing the development and review of engineering documentation, including designs, analyses, reports and installation work packages Planning and coordinating engineering activities from concept through to delivery Leading and mentoring engineers within the mechanical discipline Chairing design coordination and design review meetings with internal and external stakeholders Liaising with customers, suppliers, regulators and assurance bodies as required Ensuring compliance with applicable engineering standards, regulations and quality requirements Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver integrated outcomes What you'll need to succeed Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical Engineering Significant, proven experience in mechanical engineering roles within complex or regulated environments Proven experience leading and managing engineering teams Strong background in mechanical system design and platform integration Experience working in configurationcontrolled, standardsdriven environments Ability to review and approve technical designs and engineering documentation Experience with CAD tools and standard engineering software Strong communication, leadership and stakeholder engagement skills Ability to operate autonomously, manage competing priorities and deliver under pressure Eligibility to obtain and maintain NV1 security clearance What you'll get in return A senior technical leadership role supporting complex, highvalue assets Opportunity to influence mechanical design strategy and integration outcomes Longterm role with stability and professional development opportunities Competitive salary package aligned to experience A collaborative, professional engineering environment What you need to do now If you're interested in this role, click 'apply now' to forward an up-to-date copy of your CV to Holly.Powell@hays.com.au , or call us now.
