Job Description: Cook Position Title: Cook Reports To: Head Chef / Kitchen Manager Location: Bayti Restaurant Job Type: Full Time Position Overview: The Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking food according to the established recipes and instructions. They ensure that all meals are prepared to the highest standards of quality and consistency. The Cook follows specific instructions from the Head Chef or Kitchen Manager to create dishes that meet customer expectations while maintaining cleanliness and safety in the kitchen. Key Responsibilities: Food Preparation: Prepare ingredients as per the recipe specifications, including washing, chopping, and portioning. Follow specific cooking techniques and recipes to ensure the quality and consistency of each dish. Assist in creating daily specials or new menu items as directed by the Head Chef. Cooking: Cook food items to order, ensuring the correct temperatures, textures, and presentation. Follow detailed instructions for cooking times and methods, such as grilling, sautéing, frying, or baking. Ensure that all dishes are prepared and plated according to restaurant standards. Food Safety & Sanitation: Adhere to food safety guidelines, including proper handling, storage, and labeling of food items. Maintain cleanliness in the kitchen and cooking areas, including sanitizing utensils, equipment, and surfaces. Ensure proper food handling practices to prevent contamination or spoilage. Equipment Maintenance: Operate kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, fryers, and mixers, following safe and efficient practices. Assist in the cleaning and maintenance of kitchen equipment as instructed. Team Collaboration: Work efficiently with other kitchen staff, such as prep cooks and servers, to ensure smooth operations. Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding food preparation needs and instructions. Time Management: Manage time effectively to meet meal service requirements, ensuring orders are completed within established time frames. Follow instructions on prioritizing tasks during peak hours to ensure timely service. Adherence to Policies: Follow all kitchen policies, including food portioning, recipe modification, and ingredient substitutions. Comply with health and safety regulations to maintain a safe work environment. Qualifications: Proven experience as a Cook or in a similar culinary role. Knowledge of cooking techniques, methods, and kitchen equipment. Ability to follow instructions and recipes accurately. Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain consistency in food preparation. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Familiarity with food safety standards and sanitation regulations. Culinary degree or certification.
