Role Purpose The Truck Driver is responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant transportation of goods in accordance with company policies, road transport legislation, and client requirements. This role ensures freight is delivered on time, in good condition, and in line with operational schedules and safety standards. The position contributes directly to the organisation’s service reliability, regulatory compliance, and reputation within the transport industry. The Truck Driver plays a key role in maintaining high safety standards, accurate documentation, and effective communication with dispatch and clients. Key Responsibilities Operate heavy vehicles in accordance with road laws, fatigue management requirements, and company safety policies. Transport goods to designated locations safely and within agreed delivery timeframes. Conduct comprehensive pre-start, en-route, and post-trip vehicle inspections, reporting defects promptly. Ensure secure loading, restraint, and unloading of freight in compliance with load restraint guidelines and Chain of Responsibility obligations. Maintain accurate delivery documentation, logbooks, and electronic records as required. Monitor vehicle performance and report mechanical issues to minimise operational downtime. Adhere to fatigue management legislation and maintain compliance with work diary requirements. Communicate effectively with dispatch, warehouse staff, and customers regarding delivery schedules and any operational issues. Comply with workplace health and safety policies and actively participate in safety initiatives. Follow route plans and optimise travel efficiency while maintaining safety and compliance standards. Maintain cleanliness and presentation of assigned vehicles to company standards. Respond appropriately to unforeseen circumstances such as delays, traffic incidents, or adverse weather conditions. Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and service delivery. What We Are Looking For (Requirements) Minimum one (1) year of relevant work experience as a Truck Driver within Australia or a comparable regulatory environment. Relevant qualification such as a Certificate III in Driving Operations or equivalent industry-recognised training. Valid Heavy Vehicle Driver Licence appropriate to the vehicle class operated (e.g., HR, HC or MC), with a satisfactory driving record. Demonstrated knowledge of Australian road transport legislation, fatigue management, and load restraint requirements. Strong commitment to workplace health and safety and risk management practices. Effective communication skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
