The Opportunity We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Patient Safety Associate to support our Human Pharma business and contribute to our mission of protecting patient well-being across Australia and New Zealand. This 5-month parental leave cover role, based in Sydney, offers the opportunity to play a critical part in ensuring the safe use of our medicines by maintaining a robust and compliant local pharmacovigilance (PV) system. You will work at the intersection of patient care, regulatory compliance, and quality operations - helping ensure that every safety report is managed with accuracy, care, and integrity. Our Patient Safety team plays a vital role in upholding Boehringer Ingelheim's commitment to patient welfare. As part of this team, you will help ensure that safety information is captured, assessed, and reported in a timely and compliant manner. Key Responsibilities Report and submit Individual Case Safety Reports (ICSRs) in accordance with internal processes and Australian and New Zealand regulatory requirements using the global safety database. Contribute to the quality and compliance of the local Pharmacovigilance system through timely, accurate execution of tasks and clear documentation. Support inspection and audit readiness, including identifying quality improvements and supporting timely implementation of CAPAs. Ensure customer-focused communication by issuing clear, timely follow-up queries to reporters - including patients, prescribers, pharmacists, and study coordinators - and documenting all exchanges in the Global Safety Platform. Support initiatives that strengthen local Patient Safety culture and awareness across the organisation. Contribute to the accuracy and maintenance of safety information within local Product Information (PI) and Consumer Medicine Information (CMI) documents. Support the Head of Patient Safety by promptly identifying safety concerns and contributing to continuous optimisation of local PV processes. Your profile Background in pharmacy, pharmacology, medical science, or a related scientific discipline. Experience in Patient Safety or Pharmacovigilance is desirable but not essential. Experience communicating with patients and/or healthcare professionals is an advantage. Strong written communication skills with excellent attention to detail. Collaborative team mindset with a strong sense of compliance and responsibility. Ability to support efficient, streamlined processes and contribute to continuous improvement.
