About the Role This role sits as the right hand to the CFO and is critical to lifting the commercial and operational capability of the finance function. The focus is on stepping out of the weeds, taking a higher level view of the business and driving execution across process improvement, performance and future growth initiatives. The CFO has a clear view on what needs to improve and is seeking a senior finance leader who can design, lead and execute change in a private equity owned environment. This is a hands on, commercially driven role with strong exposure to the executive team and ownership. Key Responsibilities Provide senior commercial leadership across the finance function with a focus on outcomes, not just reporting Move the finance team from transactional and operational to forward looking and value driven Lead and deliver end to end process improvement initiatives across finance and adjacent functions Act as a strategic partner to the CFO, providing insight, challenge and execution support Oversee integration planning and execution for future acquisitions in the waste management sector Work closely with the Head of Finance who owns financial reporting, statutory and technical accounting Drive financial discipline, performance improvement and value creation in a private equity context Support the broader executive team with clear, practical and commercially focused financial insight About You You are a CA/CPA-qualified finance professional with extensive experience leading finance transformation and delivering complex initiatives across large, decentralised organisations. Key strengths include: You are a commercially minded finance leader who naturally operates at a higher altitude while still being able to dive into detail when required Strong background in private equity backed businesses or environments with similar pace and accountability Proven experience leading and transforming finance teams, ideally in a fixer upper or change situation Solid business acumen with an understanding of how value is created, protected and realised Experience with acquisitions and post merger integration planning and execution Comfortable working in an owner led, performance driven environment where outcomes matter Industry experience in asset heavy, operational or waste management style businesses is highly regarded Able to partner effectively with a CFO and executive team, bringing clarity, structure and momentum Key Benefits Highly commercial, fast moving private equity environment Hybrid role Attractive salary package STI
