About The Opportunity: The Department of Customer Service (DCS) is committed to championing the interests and perspectives of NSW citizens to deliver better customer service outcomes. It aims to deliver excellence in customer service and digital leadership and regulatory reform for the people of NSW. The Portfolio Policy team is a central policy team responsible for leading emerging, high profile, complex strategic policy development and reform across the DCS policy portfolio. It consists of the Digital, Data and Customer stream and the Regulatory Reform stream. This is an opportunity to join a highly skilled team providing strategic policy advice to Ministers, the DCS Secretary and senior executives. You will have the opportunity to gain exposure to senior decision-makers and play a role in shaping policy, strategy and legislation in the DCS Portfolio. One ongoing role will be in the Digital, Data and Customer stream and will work on strategic policy advice and legislative review around improving government service delivery and policy and program management for the Active and Creative Kids voucher. This recruitment may also be used to fill other ongoing and/or temporary roles in Portfolio Policy working across a range of policy issues, such as long service leave, Gig Worker reforms, wider NSW government regulation reform, artificial intelligence, cyber security, customer and small business. In this role, you will: Lead or contribute to strategic policy work with Department or NSW Government wide impacts Research and analyse policy issues to support evidence-based decision making and program management Collaborate with and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including though managing governance groups and committees Prepare Ministerial briefings, Cabinet submissions and policy or strategic advice Work on a range of policy areas Mentor and guide policy officers and support staff, helping to ensure an engaged and collaborative team culture We are a collaborative and fun team - serious about the development and wellbeing of our team members. We work principally from the office and support flexible work practices including hybrid work arrangements. About You A key skill for this role is the ability to think strategically. Strong analytical and communication skills are also essential.
