With a booming, culturally rich and diverse community, and less than an hourâs drive from the CBD (still within the bounds of Myki and ride-sharing), Melbourneâs North is fast becoming the place to be.   Northern Health are seeking applications from motivated and suitably experienced Consumer Peer Support Workers to join the team at the Hotham Street Clinic.  Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourneâs rapidly growing outer north.  Services are provided through our six main campuses: Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn and Mernda Community Hospitals and Kilmore District Hospital. In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park, Mernda and Coburg.  About the Role: An exciting opportunity exists for a Consumer Peer Support Worker to join the team at Hotham Street Community Mental Health Team. We would love to have you join us as we strive to improve the support we provide to our consumers and expand our lived experience workforce.   This position is ongoing part time 64 hours per fortnight.  About Hotham Street Clinic Community Teams: The Hotham Street Community Team (based in Preston) provides mental health services to adults experiencing mental ill health requiring assessment, treatment, care and coordination services within an integrated model. The teams utilise a recovery focused, bio-psychosocial service delivery framework which includes peer support. The teams focus on providing services alongside consumers, families, carers, and other clinical and support services. The teams consist of nursing, allied health, medical and lived experience, who work together to provide a high standard of care. Lived experience expertise is highly sought after and complements the professional knowledge and skills of clinical staff.  To be successful in this role you will have: A personal lived experience of mental health challenges and accessing mental health services (ideally within public mental health services) A relevant understanding of public mental health services and the mental health system Be willing and able to mutually support consumers in their own recovery, empowering them to take positive steps towards their own wellbeing by sharing your lived experience Be a team player who is collaborative and motivated to work within a holistic multidisciplinary team Well-developed communication, organisation, time management and computer skills  Next Steps . . .
