The key duties of the position include The Role The Assistant Director Engagement will lead regional stakeholder and public affairs activities for the Australian Naval Nuclear Power Safety Regulator (ANNPSR). Working with significant autonomy, you will engage local, state and federal governments, Defence, Industry, the broader Australian community and international partners to support ANNPSR's regulatory and safety oversight functions. You will develop and deliver key stakeholder engagement events and initiatives, assess regional stakeholder environments, provide tactical public affairs advice, advance ANNPSR's First Nations approach, and embed regional context into planning. Your work will strengthen regulatory capability across jurisdictions while supporting ANNPSR's long term social licence and community engagement strategy. Act as a trusted liaison, building productive relationships and ensuring two way communication between ANNPSR and key stakeholders. Lead regional engagement strategies supporting regulatory objectives and strengthening ANNPSR's organisational reputation. Represent ANNPSR at regional meetings, committees, workshops and engagement forums. Provide specialist advice on regional issues, including local impacts of naval nuclear enterprise developments. Monitor emerging risks, maintain stakeholder networks, and deliver high quality briefs and communication products. About our Team The Engagement & Culture Branch leads strategic engagement and collaboration with AUKUS international regulatory partner; the Australian nuclear community; Defence industry; Defence agencies and Navy; state and local governments; First Nations; and the broader Australian community. This work builds public confidence and trust in the Regulator and supports the establishment of social licence for the operation of naval nuclear power technology. The Branch is also is responsible for managing internal and external media and communications and the development of an appropriate organisational culture for the ANNPSR, building resilience, sense of purpose, and a high functioning team through a focus on nuclear safety and a demonstrable commitment to the ANNPSR vision, mission, and regulatory principles.
