The key duties of the position include The Role Guided Weapons and Explosive Ordnance Group (GWEO) is looking for exceptional APS6 Contracting Officers to join a dynamic delivery focused environment. As an APS 6 Contracting Officer working in GWEO in the Department of Defence, you will be working with some of the most exciting and complex guided weapons and explosive ordnance products used by the Australian Defence Force. Every day will be different as you embrace opportunities to: Support procurement planning, tendering and contract formation and contract management activities, ensuring compliance with legislation, procurement policies, processes and procedures; Engage and negotiate with clients and stakeholders and respond to complex enquiries, and procurement and contract management issues, taking the initiative to identify alternative courses of action where necessary; Provide detailed contract management technical, professional and policy advice in relation to complex acquisition and sustainment activities; Contribute to strategic planning, program and project management and policy development; and Prepare or provide input to relevant briefs and reports. This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP). This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Collective Agreement (DECA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability.
