About Challenger Investment Management Challenger Investment Management (CIM), a wholly owned subsidiary of Challenger Limited, is an alternative investment manager with a strong reputation in global developed credit markets. CIM Fixed Income manages approximately $16.4 billion in funds across a global opportunity set in public and private credit markets. The team originates, structures and manages asset backed equity and debt investments across whole loan portfolios, securitisation transactions, and bespoke private credit opportunities. The team works directly with originators, sponsors and corporates to deploy capital into residential mortgages, commercial real estate, asset-backed finance and contract receivables. The Role We are looking for a n Analyst to join our Whole Loan team in Sydney. This is a hands-on, technically demanding role that sits at the intersection of financial modelling and investment execution. As our Investment Analyst you will build and maintain cashflow models for both the asset side and the liability side. You will develop these models in Excel for day-to-day deal work and replicate them in a programming language to enable cross-validation, automation and scalability. Beyond modelling, you will work with large loan-level datasets to analyse historical asset performance, identify trends and drivers, and build forecasting tools that inform investment decisions. You will also be responsible for developing reporting and monitoring frameworks for the team's existing investment portfolio. This role will suit someone who is technically strong, intellectually curious, and wants direct exposure to live transactions and real investment outcomes. You will work closely with Portfolio Managers, Analysts and deal teams throughout the transaction lifecycle. Key Responsibilities Build, maintain and enhance asset cashflow and securitisation waterfall models in Excel, with replication and automation in Python. Develop valuation, pricing and stress-testing tools to support investment decisions across RMBS, CRE, ABS and receivables portfolios. Partner closely with deal teams to assess pricing, credit enhancement and structural features on live transactions. Analyse large, complex loan-level datasets to identify performance trends, key risk drivers and value indicators. Develop quantitative models to forecast cashflows, prepayments, delinquencies and losses across asset classes and vintages. Improve analytical workflows and data pipelines to increase efficiency and repeatability of portfolio analysis. Deliver portfolio monitoring, performance analysis and risk reporting for internal stakeholders. Support investor-ready reporting and due diligence materials. Skills & Experience Tertiary qualification in finance, mathematics, statistics, engineering, computer science or a related quantitative discipline. Experience in a quantitative or analytical role within financial services (structured finance, private credit, securitisation or similar). Proficiency in Python or an equivalent language for financial modelling, data analysis and automation. Experience modelling securitisation waterfall structures, RMBS, ABS or whole loan portfolios.
