About the Team & Office Join a high‑performing technology team passionate about enabling data‑driven decision‑making across SCA. This team plays a critical role in designing, building and operating the data pipelines and platforms that power analysis, dashboards, statistical modelling and data quality insights across the business. As a Senior Data Engineer, you’ll work closely with a wide range of stakeholders to deliver large, complex datasets and establish best‑practice standards for data architecture, modelling and engineering — directly supporting SCA’s broader digital transformation strategy. Based in our Sydney office at World Square, just a five‑minute walk from Town Hall, you’ll work in a fun and collaborative environment designed to support creativity and innovation. The office is currently trialling a 9‑day fortnight, giving you every second Friday off to rest, recharge and do your best work. A day in the life? As a Senior Data Engineer, you’ll build, operate and optimise the data pipelines that power analytics, reporting and machine learning across SCA. You’ll work closely with stakeholders to source, prepare and deliver high‑quality, trusted data, while continuously improving data infrastructure to enable faster discovery and insight. From ingesting data across multiple systems to deploying analytics and ML models into production, you’ll ensure data architecture evolves in line with business needs and supports scalable, data‑driven solutions. What You’ll Need Degree qualified in Business Analytics, Engineering, Data Science (Desirable) Strong understanding of distributed systems, especially Hadoop, Spark, Airflow, BigQuery Understanding of ETL, Big data pipeline Strong programming skills Python, Java/Scala High level understanding of design patterns Expertise with a diverse range data modelling technique’s Superior communication skills and ability to work as part of cross functional teams.
