We currently have an exciting opportunity for a high-performing and experienced People Business Partner to join our People & Culture team. Based at Launceston Airport , the People Business Partner will play a key role in supporting leaders and employees across the full employee lifecycle by delivering practical, commercially aligned HR advice and guidance. This role partners directly with the ELT and contributes to workforce planning, employee relations, talent development, organisational effectiveness and culture initiatives. It also plays a vital role in supporting foundational learning and capability programs that strengthen overall organisational performance. As part of our broader Melbourne-based People, Culture & Safety function, this position operates as the sole on-site HR professional in Launceston and is the first point of contact for HR matters. You’ll have the opportunity to build strong relationships across the airport, act as a trusted advisor to staff and leaders, and make a meaningful impact in a unique and fast-paced environment. This role is a part-time (0.8 FTE), 12-month fixed-term contract, with flexibility to consider other time fractions depending on the successful candidate’s circumstances. Key responsibilities: The role's duties and accountabilities include, but are not limited to: Provide first-line HR advice to leaders and employees on policies, procedures and employment matters. Support leaders in managing performance, conduct and attendance matters. Assist with workplace investigations, documentation and resolution of employee relations issues. Partner with leaders to identify workforce risks and opportunities. Support change initiatives including restructures, role design and workforce transitions. Contribute to building leadership capability through coaching and guidance (with oversight). Support safety and wellbeing initiatives. Work with the HR and Talent Acquisition team in support end-to-end recruitment including onboarding Assist with workforce analytics and reporting to inform resourcing decisions. Support succession planning and talent identification processes Support the annual performance review cycle including goal setting and calibration. Assist leaders to develop individual development plans (IDPs). Contribute to capability uplift initiatives across teams. Support implementation of learning programs, workshops and training sessions in conjunction with the Learning & Capability Team. Coordinate logistics and administration of internal and external training. Promote a culture of continuous learning and development Support employee engagement initiatives and survey action planning. Assist with implementation of cultural improvement strategies. Contribute to diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives. Support change management activities and communication planning. Ensure compliance with employment legislation, policies and industrial instruments. Maintain accurate employee records and HR systems data. Support reporting on key HR metrics (turnover, absenteeism, engagement, etc.). Assist with policy development and updates. Support audits and governance requirements. The successful candidate will have: 2–4 years’ experience in a generalist HR role. Knowledge or experience of employment legislation and HR best practice. Capability in handling sensitive employee relations matters and providing advice on performance management. Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills. Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion. Analytical mindset with ability to interpret basic HR data. Organised and able to manage competing priorities. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Exposure to employee relations and recruitment processes. Some experience supporting learning & development initiatives. Experience or capability in interpreting enterprise agreements and working with a unionised workforce (desirable). Tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Business or related discipline (desirable).
