Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced, and highly motivated Structural Steel Installer to join the team for a project based in Melbourne. As an installer, you will play a crucial role in the installation of our cutting-edge racking systems, ensuring quality workmanship and adherence to timelines. QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE · Minimum of 2 years’ experience in structural steel erection, steel installation, or a closely related role · Relevant trade qualification (or equivalent demonstrated work experience) · Current full driver licence, Construction White Card, and applicable High Risk Work licences · Working at Heights certification; scissor lift and forklift licences highly desirable · Physical capability to safely perform manual labour and work at heights MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES The main responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to: · Erects and dismantles structural steel frames of buildings and other structures , including frames, uprights, beams, stackers, and specialised racking systems for industrial and warehouse applications. · Attaching slinging gear to hoisting equipment and objects to be moved using clamps, hooks, bolts and knots · Positioning, aligning, and securing steel members using appropriate lifting methods, rigging techniques, and fastening systems in accordance with design specifications and site requirements. · Erecting lifting tackles by attaching pulleys and blocks to fixed overhead structures, and installing cables and attaching counterweights · Lifting and positioning sections of racking systems and components · Setting up winches and rigging equipment to raise and position girders, plates, columns and other steel units · Erecting guard rails, guy wires, ropes and clears, laying planks and hanging safety nets · Interpreting and working from complex drawings, and installation plans to ensure accurate alignment, placement, and secure fixing of steel structures. · Applying specialist knowledge of structural steel erection methods to ensure stability, load compliance, and long-term performance of racking and support systems. · Operating cranes, elevated work platforms, power tools, and specialised erection equipment, including undertaking high-risk activities such as working at heights. · Collaborating closely with fitters, installers, and supervisors to ensure efficient sequencing of works and integration of structural components during installation. · Ensuring all erected structures meet quality, safety, and engineering standards, conducting checks for level, plumb, and structural integrity throughout the installation process. · Complying with all Workplace Health & Safety legislation, site-specific safety procedures, and risk management requirements, with a strong focus on safe lifting practices and working at heights.
