About the role The position of Lawyer / Senior Lawyer is within CSC’s Legal, Risk & Governance ( LRG ) function, which provides a broad range of in-house legal, risk, compliance and governance services to CSC’s business areas to enable CSC to operate within its risk appetite and meet its regulatory obligations and fiduciary responsibilities as trustee for Australian Government superannuation schemes . As a Lawyer / Senior Lawyer, you will work across all of the following functional areas within LRG as team workloads and priorities require: Legal and Regulatory Affairs Dispute Resolution and Casework Commercial and Investments Description What you will be doing in this role Support the team leader and other senior lawyers in allocation and prioritisation of matters within the team. Use initiative to proactively manage own matters, liaise directly with clients and stakeholders, and deliver high quality legal advice and services. Supervise less experienced team members on individual matters, providing instructions, feedback, and formal review or sign-off of work and supporting their development. Work collaboratively with other members of LRG on matters crossing multiple functional areas to deliver holistic legal, risk, compliance and governance services in support of CSC’s business operations. Maintain and apply knowledge of relevant industry, legal and regulatory changes and ensure they are applied commercially to advice provided. Assist with team administration, including reporting requirements and workflow management. Assist in preparing feedback and training to CSC’s business areas based on relevant data and observations. Assist in providing training within LRG. Specific duties, deliverables and reporting may vary from time to time dependent on each functional team and business needs and priorities. Key objectives and measurements will be captured in the Performance & Development planning cycle, established annually and adapted as needed. Skills And Experiences What we’re looking for Essential - Law Degree, eligible for admission in appropriate jurisdiction 3-5 years’ post-qualification experience in legal practice relevant to CSC, preferably with exposure to commercial/superannuation/financial services/corporations law environment Experience in resolving legal issues and developing relevant work practices to deliver high quality, commercially focused, in-house legal services Ability to oversee the work of direct reports and other junior staff; and to develop and build the capability of staff to deliver high quality in-house legal services.
