The Opportunity This is a high-impact technical seat in a plant transformation. The Plant Manager is leading the transformation, the Manufacturing Engineering Lead is managing all capital projects, and you will be driving the development of our processes & systems across production, quality, safety, training, and more. Our goal is to transform how we design and manufacture our products to create a ‘Beaver Production System’ that matches the high-performance standard of the products we make today. The mission is to double the plant's throughput and develop the next-generation production system in the next 3 years to be ready for the company's global expansion. This is the type of serious challenge that the best manufacturing people dream about. The Role You will work in a small high-impact team with the Plant Manager and Manufacturing Engineering Lead to drive the transformation of our plant and the creation of the 'Beaver Production System'. Your responsibilities will include: Process Development: Owning the technical "how" by defining sequences and workflows, including bringing subcontracted work in-house, developing new capabilities, and improving our existing manufacturing processes. Continuous Improvement: Pragmatically identifying and eliminating waste across both the office and the shop floor using common-sense Lean manufacturing tools. Quality System: Delivering best-in-class quality without bureaucracy or BS—by developing a quality system that works and the team loves to use. Quality Control: Ensuring only 100% quality product leaves the plant, by building quality into each step of the process so defects don't pass down the line, with sensible oversight and training. Safety System: Building a simple, integrated site-wide safety regime to ensure we send our people home safe every day. Training & Skills: Owning the site skills matrix and working with the Workshop Manager to create development pathways and training to deliver a highly-capable and flexible workforce. Design-for-Manufacture: Providing a critical feedback loop to Engineering for both new and existing designs to ensure they are optimized for manufacture. Site Systems Lead: Serving as the site-level lead for all manufacturing systems, including process mapping and requirements for our new ERP implementation. Our Brisbane plant is a 5,500m² facility with approximately 65 people. This transformation aims to double the capacity at our flagship Brisbane plant and build the 'Beaver Production System' that we can replicate in the future into Plant 2 to support our international expansion. Ideal Candidate You are a proactive, high-energy driver who builds respect through technical competence and collaboration with both office engineers and the shop floor team. Character Traits Ownership Mindset: You want to own the toughest problems to solve and take pride in delivering great outcomes for the team. Curious Mind: You're always looking for a better way—you're never satisfied with "that's the way it's always been done". Influential Leader: You drive standards through coaching, influence, and leading by example (not command-and-control). Pragmatic Problem-Solver: You use ingenuity not dollars to solve problems—fixing them using your smarts and experience (the "MacGyver" spirit). Experience Manufacturing Experience: Solid background in manufacturing ideally involving metalwork, welding, assembly, or industrial coatings/linings. QA/QC Experience: Can develop an efficient & effective Quality System and implement Quality Control that prioritises building quality into the process at each step. Process Improvement: A practical Lean believer focused on improving workflows and eliminating waste using common-sense tools. Target Profiles Profile 1 – The Step-Up Engineer: You likely hold an Engineering degree and are hungry for more autonomy. You are likely in a more narrow technical role and are chasing the opportunity to really prove yourself on a major transformation of a plant and its production system. Profile 2 – The Experienced Operator: You have significant operational experience in manufacturing, likely originally from a trade-qualified background, and are looking for a new challenge. You want the opportunity to put all your experience to work transforming a plant and building a production system you can be proud of. What’s Special About This Opportunity? This is a rare chance to join an ambitious private business without bureaucracy or politics that is willing to invest in its manufacturing capabilities. The key things that are special about this role include: Serious Scope: Between rebuilding the quality system, commissioning new in-house processes, and leading the site's ERP rollout, you will never be bored. High-Impact Challenge: We have a mountain of interesting problems to solve; we value your technical judgment and offer the autonomy to get it done. Massive Impact: You are part of the 3-person ‘hit squad’ leading the plant transformation and building the ‘Beaver Production System’ for global expansion. Future Progression: Earn your way into senior Operations Management, future international roles, or be part of setting up Plant 2 as the business goes global. How to Apply We are looking for serious candidates ready to build something. Apply with your resume and a targeted cover letter (in your own words) answering the following: Motivation: What is it about this specific role and company that appeals to you? Skills & Smarts: Demonstrate you have the technical capability and "MacGyver" spirit to succeed in this role. Experience & Proof: Show you have the relevant experience and results to be successful in this role? About Us Beaver Process Equipment is an Australian engineered product business.
