You’ll work with Azure, CI/CD pipelines, and modern DevOps tools to support secure and scalable platforms. Job details The DevOps engineer works within a small team dedicated to building and maintaining multiple growing platforms and other cloud-based services that support the full application lifecycle. The role works closely with a variety of software development teams, assisting them to onboard new projects within Azure DevOps, implement CI/CD pipelines, and incorporate open-telemetry tooling, empowering them to accelerate software delivery and adopt the principles of a DevOps culture. This role plays a key part in a major transformational program, contributing to the design, development, and delivery of technical solutions. Key duties and responsibilities Key Responsibilities: Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and provide ongoing support for CI/CD toolsets and troubleshoot performance issues. Support Azure pipeline development and cloud migration efforts. Configure and manage Windows application servers and IIS web applications. Maintain documentation and standard operating procedures. Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration for reliable environment management. Plan, automate, test, and deploy databases using pipelines. Identify and implement process improvements for DevOps workflows. Cultivate relationships internally and externally, offering mentorship as needed. Manage time and workload effectively to meet project deadlines. Skills and Attributes: Strong IT infrastructure background with expertise in DevOps methodologies and cloud architecture. Proficiency in CI/CD pipelines and automation. Effective project management skills, delivering projects on time and within budget. Ability to manage client relationships and deliver excellent customer service. Practical use of static code analysis and quality tools such as SonarQube. Strong knowledge of container technologies (e.g. Docker and Kubernetes), artifact repositories (e.g. JFrog Artifactory) and container security best practices. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues. Exposure to other Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g. Terraform) About the team The team manages and supports the department’s DevOps platforms and tooling. This includes responsibility for DevOps capability uplift, governance and secure delivery practices across the department. The team supports tools and platforms such as Azure DevOps, SonarQube, JFrog and Nucleus, and leads the delivery of the Developer Standard Operating Environment to provide a secure, standardised development environment aligned with cyber security requirements. Key activities include governing application lifecycle management, configuring and supporting pipelines, managing access and security operations, integrating developer tools, operating central vulnerability management, and working with business areas to enable scalable and secure software delivery in support of digital transformation initiatives. The team continually matures its services to improve development quality, assurance and delivery efficiency.
