The National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) is seeking an experienced and high performing candidate to fill the role of Research Evaluation Officer. Our ideal candidate will play a key role in supporting NHMRC's research evaluation activities. The role involves working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, including national and international medical research organisations, to gather information, develop reports and provide advice on research evaluation strategies. A good working knowledge of research evaluation, as well as strong analytical, communication, and project management skills and the ability to work independently under limited supervision will be required. The role also requires the ability to run and/or support procurement activities and to advise on improvements to data collection that may be necessary to support future research evaluation activities (such as improvements to data collected on progress and/or final reports or follow-on surveys). The key duties of the position include As the Research Evaluation Officer, your duties will include: • Stakeholder Engagement: Attend and actively contribute to meetings with national and international medical research organisations, vendors and other relevant stakeholders, representing NHMRC's interests and ensuring effective information exchange. • Information Gathering & Analysis: Collect and synthesize data from diverse sources to support NHMRC's research evaluation framework and data requirements. • Report Development: Prepare high-quality written reports, briefing papers, and evaluation summaries for internal committees and external stakeholders. • Policy & Advisory Support: Provide evidence-based advice on research evaluation methodologies, including improvements to data collection. • Project Coordination: Manage timelines and deliverables for evaluation-related projects, ensuring alignment with NHMRC strategic priorities. • Procurement: Lead and undertake RFQ and/or other procurement in a federal government environment. • Ad hoc Duties: Support other evaluation and reporting activities as required.
