The key duties of the position include The Role As the Operational Contracting Manager at Headquarters Joint Operations Command (HQJOC), you will lead the planning, orchestration, execution and assurance of operational contracting across HQJOC Operations, Activities and Investments (OAIs). You will be accountable within an integrated workforce for leading select complex and simple procurements, including urgent operational procurements, by overseeing approach to market development, evaluation, negotiation and probity support, and conducting complex contract management. Additionally, you will be required to demonstrate sound decision making and judgement to provide policy, commercial, contracting and procurement advice to planning groups and deployed personnel, and to provide contracting and commercial training as required. You will be responsible for leading a high performing team consisting of generalist and specialist personnel. You will collaborate closely with operational planners, Defence Groups and Services, deployed personnel and industry to drive for commercial outcomes that achieve policy and regulatory compliance and enable the HQJOC Theatre Campaign Plan. This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP). This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Collective Agreement (DECA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability. Support Branch orchestrates logistics, personnel, health and support effects to enable delivery of the HQJOC Theatre Campaign Plan. The Logistics Operations Directorate plans, orchestrates and assures operational logistics effects for all domestic and international HQJOC OAIs. As part of this, the Directorate delivers contracting solutions and expertise to HQJOC OAIs.
