This role is ideal for a technically capable and hands-on engineer with experience planning and designing civil maintenance and project works, and managing tasks from initial scope through to completion and close-out. You will contribute across a broad range of works — from minor site improvements to involvement in major projects — while coordinating contractors and internal stakeholders to deliver safe, high-quality outcomes on time and within budget. Description Key Responsibilities In consultation with consultants and internal customers, develop proposals, scopes of work, cost estimates, construction plans and drawings for plant modifications and new projects Develop tender documentation and work in conjunction with the Procurement team to manage the tendering process for new civil project works Plan and coordinate civil maintenance works including raising and closing work orders, developing scopes of work, cost estimates and timelines Provide engineering, design and technical advice as required Maintain plant infrastructure, roads, and civil and structural facilities to a standard of maximum efficiency Supervise site project works with emphasis on safety, compliance to site procedures, quality, cost control and accuracy Provide regular reports to the Maintenance Superintendent on site activities, job progress, cost variances and emerging issues Coordinate with government departments to obtain permits for new works and ensure compliance with reporting requirements Issue excavation permits Promote a safe working environment, investigate incidents and complete corrective actions within agreed timeframes Promote a positive company image among consultants, contractors and the local community Skills And Experiences About You You will bring: Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering (or related discipline) Minimum three years’ post-graduate experience Eligibility to obtain RPEQ status or ability to attain RPEQ shortly after commencement Experience within a refinery or processing plant (desirable) Ability to manage multiple tasks with varying priorities Strong written and verbal communication skills Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office (particularly Excel and Word) Proficiency in the use of a CMMS (JD Edwards experience highly regarded) Why Townsville?
