Description An exciting opportunity is available for a 12-month fixed term Senior Business Analyst – Shared Services to join the Business Services Centre (BSC) within the Chief Financial Office. This role plays a key part in driving operational excellence across Finance and People processes by supporting continuous improvement initiatives, delivering high-quality analysis, and partnering with stakeholders to optimise performance outcomes. Working closely with the Performance Improvement Lead, Shared Services leaders, TCS and business stakeholders, the position focuses on identifying opportunities, generating actionable insights, and supporting the delivery of initiatives aligned to BSC objectives, OKRs and the Downer Standard. This opportunity will suit someone who enjoys solving complex problems, working with data to inform decisions, and influencing outcomes in a fast-paced, evolving environment Key Responsibilities Process Improvement & Operational Excellence Analyse Finance and People processes to identify inefficiencies, gaps and improvement opportunities Conduct deep-dive reviews and root-cause analysis to support data-driven recommendations Map current and future state processes using value stream mapping and CI tools Support the execution of initiatives that enhance service delivery and performance Promote a culture of innovation, continuous improvement and operational excellence Project & Initiative Support Contribute to business cases, project charters, requirements documentation and status reporting Support risk identification and mitigation planning Ensure initiatives are governed, measured and aligned to agreed standards Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration Partner with BSC leaders, Finance teams, TCS and business units to drive improvement outcomes Facilitate workshops, requirements gathering sessions and problem-solving discussions Communicate insights, progress, risks and issues clearly and proactively Build strong working relationships that foster collaboration and shared success Governance & Risk Support compliance with internal controls and governance frameworks Champion adherence to the Downer Standard in all BA deliverables Contribute to Zero Harm and sustainability obligations as required What You Will Bring Experience in a Business Analyst, Continuous Improvement or process-focused role within Finance or Shared Services Strong analytical capability with the ability to translate data into meaningful insights Demonstrated experience documenting processes, capturing requirements and supporting project delivery Exposure to Lean, Six Sigma or other continuous improvement methodologies Confidence facilitating workshops and influencing stakeholders across multiple levels Understanding of governance, risk management and change principles Proficiency with financial systems (SAP, Oracle or similar) and process mapping tools (Visio, Miro, Signavio) Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment Relevant tertiary qualifications in Finance, Accounting or Business Analysis are desirable, along with Lean Six Sigma certification.
