The key duties of the position include The Role As a Privacy Officer in the Privacy team, you will be working with and supporting the Assistant Directors and Director of Defence Privacy, as well as working autonomously on your own matters to achieve outcomes for the department. This will include: Handling of internal and external privacy enquiries Administration of privacy complaints Review and assist with the finalisation of PIAs Administration of privacy governance - including managing the departments performance against its compliance obligations and PMP Assist in the preparation of responses for OAIC matters, and Support the development and delivery of privacy training and awareness for departmental employees. About our Team The Defence Privacy team supports the department's compliance with the Privacy Act 1988, Australian Government Agency Code and the Notifiable Data Breaches Scheme. The team manages a range of functions including complaints, dispute resolution, privacy governance and education. The team is responsible for: Privacy policy and Privacy Management Plan (PMP) development Privacy notice development, advice and compliance Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs), associated threshold assessments and internal and external PIA registers Privacy enquiries and complaint-handling (from within the Department and received externally) Privacy communication and education - training and awareness, and Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) engagement and reporting.
