About the Portfolio Property Services has approximately 75 staff and has responsibility for the operation, maintenance, utilisation and enhancement of buildings owned and leased by RMIT University. Property Services oversees construction projects and ensures the provision of physical facilities services. The Group has an operating budget in excess of $75m and current capital projects are significant. RMIT's built environment involves approximately 124 buildings spread across all of RMIT's campuses and sites. The capital stock of the University is diverse and valued at approximately $2 billion and includes heritage and other classifications. As we embed this foundational strategy across Property Services, we’re seeking innovative project leaders to help bring it to life. We invite you to join us as a Senior Project Manager, Capital Works, where you will play a pivotal role in the delivery of campus-defining projects, supporting RMIT’s strategic goals and the seamless integration of the Living Places Plan with key property and capital development frameworks. The Senior Project Manager, Capital Works is responsible for the development and implementation of project delivery strategies and leading the delivery of assigned capital works projects. This position involves the leadership of internal staff to deliver capital works projects and the engagement and direction of external project managers and project teams as required. The Senior Project Manager is to take a leadership role in managing project risks and ensuring all projects meet financial, performance quality, safety and environmental objectives aligned to RMIT’s Living Places Plan. The Senior Project Manager will take a strategic approach to the delivery of capital works projects to support the successful delivery of the Capital Development Program. This position will require a high level of communication, liaison, negotiation and organisational skills together with a strong commercial acumen. About You: You are an experienced project manager with a proven record leading capital works in complex environments. Your strengths in stakeholder engagement, team leadership, and contract management equip you to navigate challenges and drive excellence. Your organisation, negotiation and commercial acumen underpin your commitment to safe, sustainable, high-quality project outcomes. Skills & Experience Lead the delivery of assigned capital works projects from inception to completion, ensuring all project outcomes are achieved on time, to quality standards, within budget and aligned with RMIT’s Living Places Plan. Engage, motivate, and manage high-performing internal project teams and oversee the work of external project managers, consultants, and contractors. Proactively identify, assess, and manage project risks, ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and quality objectives. Develop, implement, and monitor effective project delivery strategies, including planning, resource allocation, communication protocols, and performance reporting. Foster strong relationships and clear communication with a diverse range of stakeholders, ensuring alignment with client expectations and broader University interests. Collaborate with management to drive best practice, process improvement and innovation within capital projects. Contribute to contract management, complex negotiations, and resolution of project-related challenges.
