You will be responsible for coordinating daily mowing activities, operating machinery, and supervising a small crew delivering services across parks, reserves, roadsides, and open spaces. Key Responsibilities The Ride-On Mower Team Leader will be responsible for: Leading and supervising a mowing crew across council-maintained sites Operating ride-on mowers and associated plant and equipment Planning and allocating daily work schedules to meet contract requirements Ensuring mowing, edging, and grounds maintenance works are completed efficiently and to specification Conducting pre-start checks and basic maintenance on plant and equipment Monitoring site conditions and adjusting work plans as required Ensuring compliance with WHS procedures, traffic management, and safe work practices Identifying and reporting hazards, defects, or site issues Training, mentoring, and supporting team members Liaising with supervisors and contract management regarding progress and issues Maintaining a high standard of presentation across all sites About You You are a reliable, safety-focused leader with proven ride-on mowing experience who understands council contract standards and enjoys working outdoors in a fast-paced, operational environment. Skills & Experience Essential: Demonstrated experience operating ride-on mowers in commercial or council environments Previous experience leading or supervising a mowing or grounds maintenance crew Strong understanding of mowing techniques, site safety, and productivity expectations Ability to work across multiple sites within a council contract Current driver’s licence Sound knowledge of WHS requirements for outdoor and plant-based work Strong communication and leadership skills Desirable: Certificate III in Horticulture or Parks & Gardens Traffic Control qualifications Experience working on local council mowing contracts Basic mechanical knowledge of mowing equipment Experience with GPS/job scheduling or reporting systems What’s on Offer Full-time, stable role on a long-term council contract Consistent hours and structured work programs Opportunity to lead a dedicated mowing crew Supportive management and operational backing Ongoing training and development opportunities Also may offer specialised roles which the below are an asset: Landscaping or Construction Experience.
