The role: The Business Manager reports to the Principal & CEO and is a key member of the senior management team. This role leads finance, operations, and HR functions, ensuring smooth day-to-day management while contributing to strategic planning and long-term goals. It’s a high-impact position for an organised, proactive, and collaborative professional who thrives in a dynamic, supportive academic community. Key Responsibilities: Manage all aspects of the College’s financial functions, including budgeting, revenue monitoring, payroll, cash flow management, month-end processes, asset register, depreciation, and audits. Lead, support, and coach finance and events staff in day-to-day processes and budget management. Oversee bank accounts, loan and lease agreements, finance systems, software, and card management. Manage scholarships, bursaries, and awards disbursement. Supervise investment and trust funds, including reporting and review. Ensure compliance with ACNC and other government reporting requirements. Oversee use of external contractors and manage key facilities, events, and maintenance projects. Prepare reports for, and attend meetings of, the College Board and relevant committees. Assist the Principal with HR functions, including recruitment, induction, training, performance management, and staff policies. Manage insurance policies, renewals, and claims, and provide oversight on legal matters in consultation with the Principal. Contribute to strategic planning, policy review, records management, and operational improvements. Participate actively in College staff and team meetings and undertake other relevant duties as required. Skills and Experience: Tertiary qualification in Finance, Business, or Commerce (CPA/CA preferred) Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Calendar) and aptitude to learn new software Experience in finance management, preferably in education or student accommodation Strong leadership, organisational, and analytical skills with high attention to detail Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with students, staff, families, and external stakeholders Understanding of HR, compliance, and governance practices High degree of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality Police Check and Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain) Desirable: experience with Synergetic student management software and/or company secretary qualifications Benefits: Supportive and inclusive College community Salary packaging opportunities Onsite parking and staff lunch provided Apply now: If you’re interested in this role, please send your resume to claire@tidalrecruitmentpartners.com.au
