The Role Reporting to the Superintendent – Smelter Projects, you will provide project management and engineering support for the safe delivery of capital projects within the Smelter portfolio. You will coordinate a team of electrical engineers and graduates to deliver projects through scoping, evaluation, design, construction, commissioning, and handover. You will provide visible leadership and build strong relationships with the asset teams to ensure the identification of value-adding and business-critical initiatives. The successful candidate will be responsible for: Safe and successful delivery of capital, sustaining, and asset improvement projects, including shutdowns, ensuring quality, financial, and technical alignment with business objectives and Asset Management Strategies. Leading and managing complex mechanical asset projects involving personnel from various teams and professional disciplines to ensure projects are delivered according to the capital works program, including significant upgrades. Providing technical expertise and visible leadership to ensure compliance with policies, standards, and procedures. Building and maintaining sustainable partnerships with a broad range of stakeholders, including execution and operational teams, to prioritise work and improve site asset availability. Working closely with the maintenance and operations teams to support routine operations and respond to breakdowns as required. Ensuring the health and safety of the Engineering Team, contributing actively to safety leadership across operations. Managing incidents and investigations in a timely manner, performing workforce and work environment observations, and ensuring compliance with site health and safety policies, standards, and procedures. Developing a positive team culture aligned with Glencore values, including mentoring and coaching to build employee competency. You will have the following skillset and attributes: Electrical Engineering degree with 5 years of engineering and project delivery experience. Strong understanding of relevant Australian Standards, Acts, and Regulations. Experience in LV and HV distribution system design, including motor control centres and switchboards. Knowledge of DCS/PLC and Remote IO control system design. Proficiency in HV and LV power system modelling and protection design – including tools such as PTW, PowerCad, or similar. Experience generating study reports, scopes of work, equipment specifications, and datasheets. Ability to prepare engineering estimates and quotations. Capital project management experience. Logical thinker with strong problem-solving skills and the persistence to see solutions through. A proactive attitude toward safety and procedural compliance. Flexibility and enthusiasm for challenges. Excellent time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines. Strong customer focus with high attention to detail, capable of working effectively both independently and within a team environment.
