We are AMES Australasia. Want to join us? About the role: We are seeking a Product Manager (12-month maternity leave cover) to manage our Pets category. You will own the end-to-end product lifecycle, delivering customer-focused pet ranges through market analysis, product development, pricing, range planning, and supplier management. Working closely with design, sales, and procurement teams, you will ensure the category remains competitive, profitable, and trusted by pet owners and our key customers. Reporting to the Merchandise Manager, you will help drive category performance and innovation. Reporting to the Merchandise Manager your responsibilities include: Lead the strategic development of the Pets category in line with market trends, customer demand, and professional user requirements Conduct range reviews, manage the full product lifecycle, and identify gaps and opportunities within the portfolio Partner with local and international suppliers on sourcing, innovation, and development of new tools with a focus on durability, safety, and ergonomic design Monitor category performance and make data-driven decisions to improve margin, turnover, and sell-through Collaborate with sales and marketing to execute category plans, promotional activities, and trade events Stay ahead of industry trends, regulatory standards, and competitor activity to maintain leadership in the market Skills And Experience Tertiary qualification in Marketing and/or minimum 3 years' experience in a similar role. Ability to understand how customers use their products and deliver improvements in function and quality. Ability to collaborate with internal design teams to efficiently bring new products to market. Highly organised with strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities Proficiency in Excel and ERP system Ability to liaise with and present concepts to management and external customers. Strong people skills and ability to work as part of a team. Excellent communication skills both written/ verbal and excellent stakeholder management skills especially with our with overseas suppliers/manufacturers. Attention to detail and accuracy. Self-motivated and a can-do attitude.
