The Opportunity Position: Assistant Accountant – Tax Specialisation Pathway Location: Perth CBD Remuneration: $150k–$160k Super performance bonuses (post-probation) $1,500 Cash Sign on Bonus You will work closely with the Partner and leadership team, supporting the delivery and review of tax compliance and advisory services while developing the skills required to step into a Group Tax Manager role. This is not a siloed compliance role. From day one, you’ll be involved in: Tax strategy and advisory Client relationships Team supervision and mentoring Practice improvement and innovation initiatives Your Role & Impact Tax Compliance (Individuals, Trusts & Companies) Review and oversee tax compliance processes in line with CPA / CA ANZ and TPB standards Review individual, trust, and company tax returns and financial statements Ensure high-quality work papers, correct coding, and audit-ready documentation Provide technical oversight and quality control across engagements Complex Groups & Consolidations Support and review tax compliance for complex group structures Review consolidated financial statements Apply accounting standards and taxation legislation across multi-entity groups Advisory & Tax Planning Assist in delivering tax planning and advisory services Support restructuring, group strategy, and compliance risk management Identify planning opportunities and communicate advice clearly to clients Client Relationships Act as a trusted point of contact for clients Support client meetings and ongoing advisory conversations Build strong, professional, long-term client relationships Leadership, Mentoring & Development Supervise and review work of junior team members Coach and mentor staff through CPA / CA pathways Provide technical guidance and feedback Help build a strong, engaged, and capable tax team Practice Growth & Innovation Contribute to process improvements and quality initiatives Support business development within ethical guidelines Engage with technology, AI, and automation initiatives to improve service delivery What We’re Looking For CPA or CA qualified (mandatory) Registered Tax Agent (desirable or pathway supported) Solid experience across: Individual, trust, and company taxation Complex group structures Tax advisory and planning A genuine interest in people leadership and mentoring Strong communication and client-facing skills A growth mindset and curiosity for technology-enabled accounting Your Career Path This role is intentionally designed as a leadership pipeline.
