Your new role We have an opportunity for an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our Compliance team as Managing Principal Officer on a full-time ongoing basis. Reporting to the Director - Legal Operations the role will be responsible for leading a high performing team to provide authoritative technical advice in relation to IBAC's compliance obligations concerning telecommunication intercepts and data, surveillance devices and other coercive powers. Duties include: Maintain IBAC's system of registers and records and undertake audits of records relating to telecommunications data and interception, and the use of surveillance devices, assumed identities, controlled operations and other areas of legislative compliance as required, and undertake relevant administrative requirements. Liaise with IBAC's oversight agencies, ensuring transparency, to facilitate their audits and inspections of IBAC's registers and records. Prepare reports and draft and maintain policies, procedures and systems in relation to IBAC's use of intrusive powers and compliance with legislative obligations. Provide timely and accurate specialised technical advice, influencing and negotiating with stakeholders, to deliver IBAC's internal compliance activities. Build a culture of high performance, by providing clear direction and communication regarding role responsibilities and expectations; providing regular performance management to highlight performance strengths and gaps and provide training and development opportunities to ensure successful outcomes. Our requirements / Your skill set We are looking for candidates with the below experience and capabilities: Experience in auditing or compliance is essential. Significant knowledge of or the ability to quickly acquire knowledge of IBAC's obligations pursuant to relevant legislation. Significant experience in managing a team. Due to the requirement to attain a Negative Vetting 1 security clearance candidates must be an Australian citizen at the time of application.
