As Head of Architecture, you will play a critical role in guiding GMHBA’s technology direction and enabling meaningful, organisation-wide change. Reporting directly to the Chief Information Officer and operating as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, this role is focused on setting strategic direction, not just designing solutions. Why this role matters As Head of Architecture, you will define how technology enables GMHBA’s strategy—today and into the future. You’ll create the target-state architecture, govern how we get there, and ensure every major investment delivers measurable value for the business and our members. You’ll be the connective tissue between strategy and execution—partnering across technology, data, security, digital and operations to simplify complexity, reduce risk, and enable smarter decisions. And you’ll do it while building and leading a high-performing architecture practice that sets the standard across the organisation. What you’ll own The enterprise architecture vision, strategy and roadmap for GMHBA Architectural governance, principles and major design decisions Alignment between business strategy, operating models and technology delivery Technology investment decisions that improve resilience, scalability and cost efficiency Executive-level engagement, influencing priorities and shaping outcomes A talented team of enterprise, business and solution architects—developing capability and future leaders Architecture maturity uplift across the organisation What success looks like Clear architectural direction that accelerates delivery rather than slows it down Reduced complexity, lower obsolescence, and stronger technology foundations Architecture embedded into decision-making, not bolted on at the end Strong partnerships across the business and technology A respected, trusted architecture function that enables change What you’ll bring 8 years in architecture roles, including 5 years leading teams Proven experience defining and embedding enterprise-wide technology strategy Strong business partnering and executive-level influence Deep understanding of enterprise architecture, delivery lifecycles and complex environments The confidence to challenge, the credibility to influence, and the pragmatism to deliver Strong commercial acumen Bonus points for: Experience in insurance or highly regulated industries Leading architecture through transformation TOGAF certification Why GMHBA?
