The Role As the Environment Centre Officer, you will be the friendly face and driving force behind the day‑to‑day operations of our Environment Centre. You’ll play a key role in creating a welcoming, well‑managed space where visitors can explore, learn, and connect with nature. Key accountabilities include: managing daily centre operations, including opening, closing, and ensuring a safe, organised environment provide excellent customer service by welcoming visitors, responding to enquiries, and offering clear, accurate information about programs, events, and centre operations support school groups, community organisations, and general visitors in planning their visit and understanding centre guidelines assist customers in selecting appropriate programs or resources based on their needs, interests, or curriculum requirements provide general administrative support, including handling centre bookings coordinating and supporting volunteers. This is a true casual position with no guaranteed hours. Most shifts will fall on weekends however, there will be opportunities to pick up additional weekday shifts when workloads increase, programs are scheduled, or staff coverage is needed and therefore travel between all the 3 centres is a requirement of the role. To be successful you will have: strong customer service and interpersonal skills, including a commitment to working in a highly effective team confident managing a public space and interacting with visitors sound knowledge of native and exotic flora, fauna and habitats excellent time management skills with the ability to plan and prioritise high volume workloads a proactive, flexible, and positive attitude a current driver’s license (this role would be expected to service all three centres and driving to various sites to facilitate programs).
