The Victorian Government is establishing Outdoor Recreation Victoria (ORV) by bringing together the Victorian Fisheries Authority and the Game Management Authority. ORV will combine the strengths, knowledge, and expertise of both regulators to create more opportunities for fishing, boating, hunting, four-wheel driving and camping across the state. In addition to regulating and promoting the sector, ORV will support access to public land and waterways through a new role in a new cross-government Land Access Panel. Working across government, ORV will create a single, digital hub that will grow over time to become a central place for information related to outdoor recreation in Victoria. ORV will be established on 1 July 2026, and its new functions will be phased in thereafter. The formation of ORV reflects the Victorian Government's commitment to modernising governance, streamlining services, and creating more vibrant and inclusive outdoor recreation opportunities for all Victorians and visitors. ORV will be an independent statutory authority, reporting to the Minister for Outdoor Recreation with support and oversight by the Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions (DJSIR).
