Location: Port Adelaide, SA Clearance: Minimum NV1 (must be willing to undergo additional vetting up to Secret) About the Role The Level 4 Model Based Systems Engineer will lead the delivery of Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) capability uplift for the Australian Submarine Agency (ASA), supporting the establishment and governance of ASAs MBSE framework within the Nuclear-Powered Submarine (NPS) program. This role acts as the senior MBSE authority and leads the Service Providers delivery under the contract. Key Responsibilities Lead the establishment and uplift of ASAs MBSE framework. Provide expert guidance on cost-effective adoption and optimisation of MBSE within ASAs technical ecosystem. Model authoritative technical data sources using MBSE methodologies. Develop high-fidelity systems models of: The NPS information ecosystem NPS technical data and associated data sources Map technical data sources, consumers and exchange use cases within structured system models. Develop MBSE sustainment, governance and training material for: Digital Engineering Branch (DEB) Technical Control Organisation (TCO) Provide modelling-based justification for adoption of candidate digital capabilities and technical data handling techniques. Lead stakeholder engagement to identify, validate and formalise NPS technical data management requirements. Coordinate and manage Level 3 and Level 2 MBSE resources to ensure delivery to schedule and budget. Ensure documentation enables long-term ASA sustainment and model evolution. Experience & Qualifications Tertiary qualification in Systems Engineering or relevant discipline. 12 years industry experience. Deep expertise applying MBSE to major programs. Expert proficiency in Sparx Enterprise Architect (SparxEA). Demonstrated Defence acquisition lifecycle experience. Strong understanding of systems modelling languages (e.g., SysML). Proven leadership and coordination capability. Authority & Autonomy Acts under broad strategic direction. Provides expert-level technical authority. Leads delivery planning, coordination and technical quality assurance. Influences enterprise digital engineering adoption decisions.
