The role We’re looking for a values-aligned and analytical Financial Accountant who can take ownership of day to day accounting and financial control at Vow, as well as lean in on management reporting and special projects to support our Financial Controller. The ideal candidate has rock solid accounting skills coupled with good commercial acumen, top-notch attention to detail, and a knack for taking any process and making it more efficient. You’ll take the reins on owning our current day to day finance work (e.g., payroll, invoices, payments), acting as the first port of call for our external bookkeepers, then optimising these processes so they run like a well-oiled machine. From there, you’ll continue to run the day to day finances and will also lean in to support special finance projects across Vow as we scale. The experience you will bring Bachelor degree in Accounting/Commerce/Finance. ~4 years of finance experience, ideally at a large accounting and financial services firm. Proven track record of building out, maintaining, and consistently improving effective financial processes. Ability to work effectively and positively with people across different types of teams. Advanced Excel skills and familiar with finance systems (we use Xero). Superb communication skills and a positive attitude. Experience (or a keen interest) in the startup, manufacturing, science or deeptech space. Nice to have: CA/CPA qualified You will Own overall financial control, overseeing and reviewing work prepared by our external bookkeepers across accounts payable, receivable, reconciliations, and reimbursements. Take ownership of the month end process, ensuring all records prepared by the bookkeeper are accurate, complete, and ready for reporting key performance metrics to the business. Run payroll for Vowzers so that our amazing employees are paid accurately and on time. Be the first point of contact for bookkeeper queries and help resolve edge cases Help to manage Vow’s compliance and tax requirements and activities. Assist with audits, R&D tax and due diligence. Assist with budget preparation and planning, specifically for annual planning and fundraising. Support COGS tracking and inventory processes in partnership with manufacturing and supply chain teams. Support special projects across the business, including commercial analysis, process improvements, manufacturing cost tracking to drive smarter decision-making. What success looks like Within 3 months, you will: Be fully across Vow’s finance systems, processes, and key workflows, including work prepared by our external bookkeepers Confidently own day to day financial control, reviewing AP/AR, reconciliations, and payroll for accuracy and completeness Take ownership of the month end close process and deliver accurate, timely reporting to the business Be the go-to point of contact for bookkeeper queries and operational finance questions Within 6 months, you will: Have streamlined and improved core finance processes to make month end faster, cleaner, and more scalable Be proactively identifying issues, risks, and opportunities across financial operations and compliance Be actively contributing to budgeting, forecasting, and commercial analysis to support decision-making Have strong visibility across COGS and inventory processes, working closely with manufacturing and supply chain teams Within 12 months, you will: Be a trusted owner of Vow’s day to day finance function, with robust controls and smooth operations in place Play a key role in annual planning, fundraising support, audits, and R&D tax processes Have led meaningful process improvements that support Vow’s growth and complexity as we scale Be a trusted finance partner across the business, supporting smarter commercial and operational decisions Who we are and why join: We are building a diverse, mission-led dream team of “Vowzers.” Our mission is to make food products for everyone.
