Please note this is a part time 0.4 FTE 12 month fixed term opportunity About the role: The Chief Pathology Adviser will play a pivotal role in supporting the implementation of Victoria's Pathology Reform implementation framework. This position will provide senior clinical leadership, assist strategic direction and offer authoritative specialist pathology advice. The role is responsible for assisting the statewide public pathology reform agenda which aims to strengthen system performance and ensure high-quality consumer-centred public pathology services across Victoria. The Adviser will work closely with an existing team on several major projects and lead a range of engagement forums with senior executives, clinicians and key stakeholders. They will also provide technical guidance and represent the statewide reform and implementation agenda publicly, helping to communicate its vision, intent and progress with clarity and authority. Additionally, the Chief Pathology Adviser will act as a primary expert adviser to the Department on pathology-related reforms across the sector, providing specialist guidance and helping to ensure a clear understanding of the reforms and their impacts on services, patients and quality of care. About you: We are looking for someone who can: Provide expert clinical and strategic leadership and advice to senior departmental executives, the Minister for Health and the broader health sector. Lead the development, implementation and iterative improvement of statewide pathology strategy, ensuring alignment with national standards accreditation requirements and best-practice clinical governance. Lead regular engagement with executive-level sector and senior stakeholders, provide technical advice to ensure the successful delivery of the Victorian Pathology Reform implementation framework. Lead the development, review and dissemination of statewide pathology standards. Contribute specialist knowledge and expertise to the development of standards, guidelines and practice directions relevant to the provision of pathology services. Qualifications / Specialist Expertise A post-graduate tertiary qualification with a minimum 10 years' relevant health system experience. Current registration as a medical practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency. Demonstrated senior leadership experience, ideally within Victorian public pathology services An advanced understanding of the Victorian pathology service system and knowledge of current pathology policy development within the State and Commonwealth environments.
