This is a high-impact in-house role for a mid-level lawyer (3-7 years’ PQE) who enjoys working at the intersection of law, policy and regulation, and who wants their work to make a genuine difference to the safety and wellbeing of the community. The Opportunity: Reporting to a Legal Manager and working closely with a fantastic Head of Legal and General Counsel, daily tasks will include: Drafting and reviewing regulatory and coercive instruments (e.g. directions, notices, prohibition instruments); Advising on complex statutory interpretation and administrative decision-making; Supporting regulatory powers, enforcement and compliance frameworks; Managing administrative law and review matters (including VCAT); Briefing and instructing external Counsel and law firms; Leading legal and compliance projects and training initiatives; and Engaging with senior stakeholders, regulated entities and government partners. About You: You are a confident, solutions-focused lawyer who enjoys working in a dynamic regulatory environment. Experience working with regulators, government, or complex statutory schemes will be highly regarded. You will bring: Admission as an Australian Lawyer and eligibility for a Victorian practising certificate; Substantial post-admission experience (in-house and/or private practice); Strong administrative / regulatory law capability; Excellent written and verbal communication skills; and The ability to provide clear, practical advice to non-lawyers and executives.
