Salary Package starting from: $74,628.25 About the role Responsible for managing all daily, monthly and annual rating processes for the levy and collection of rates in line with departmental deadlines and the Local Government Act 1995, while delivering quality customer service and maintaining strict confidentiality. Duties Key responsibilities include: Reconcile the rates subsidiary ledger with the general ledger daily. Maintain and update all property and ratepayer information in the City's rating system. Prepare, levy and issue interim rates, instalments and final rate notices. Maintain the Valuation Register and reconcile valuation changes with the rating database. Process concessional rebate applications and rate statements from Settlement Agents and Solicitors. Review and process overpayments and issue rates refunds. Manage payment plans (direct debits and special arrangements) and assist with recovering overdue rates in line with Financial Hardship and Debt Collection policies. Provide information to ratepayers, government agencies and other stakeholders in line with legislation and City policies. Maintain and review all rates-related procedures to ensure compliance with required timelines. Who we are Looking for: To be considered for this position, you will need: Studying toward or holding a Certificate/Diploma in Accounting or Finance (desirable). Knowledge of Local Government rating processes and functions. Strong analytical, problem‑solving skills and high attention to detail. Practical experience and working knowledge of accounting functions. Understanding of Australian Accounting Standard 27 (AAS27). Intermediate Microsoft Office skills. Excellent time‑management and ability to meet deadlines. Strong teamwork skills with the ability to work independently and use initiative. High-level written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Proven ability to handle confidential and sensitive information. Current National Police Clearance.
