We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our Financial Control team at Department of Customer Service. This role is pivotal in ensuring the integrity of financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards, and supporting strategic decision-making through accurate financial information. As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for managing complex accounting processes, preparing financial statements, and providing expert advice on technical accounting matters. You will work closely with internal stakeholders and external auditors to maintain robust financial controls and deliver high-quality outcomes. Ongoing opportunity Salary, Clerk Grade 9/10: $129,464 - $142,665 super, commensurate with experience Based in Sydney CBD with hybrid and flexible working options available Key accountabilities Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards and NSW Treasury guidelines. Ensure compliance with statutory reporting requirements, internal policies, and audit standards. Manage general ledger reconciliations and oversee month-end and year-end close processes. Provide technical accounting advice and support to business units. Coordinate external audits and liaise with auditors to resolve queries. Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Support and manage finance system integrations in collaboration with key stakeholders. Mentor and support junior accounting staff. Key requirements Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. Professional membership CA or CPA. Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards, NSW Treasury Circulars, and relevant legislation. Demonstrated experience in financial accounting within a large or complex organization. Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, TM1). Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
