What We’re Looking For We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Sydney‑based engineering team. This role is ideal for a technically strong electrical engineer who enjoys working at a system level, developing robust electrical specifications, and collaborating closely with external design partners and contract manufacturers. You will contribute to the electrical design and development of active implantable medical devices, providing technical input across the product lifecycle — from requirements definition through design reviews, verification, and manufacturing support. This role plays a critical part in technical reviews, partner engagement, and ensuring designs meet Saluda’s performance, quality, and regulatory expectations. This is a 12 month, Fixed Term contract position. Your role will include: Develop and maintain electrical system requirements, specifications, and interface documentation for medical device products Collaborate with external design partners and contract manufacturers to support detailed electrical design activities Participate in and contribute to technical and design reviews, providing clear, constructive engineering feedback Support system‑level electrical architecture decisions across mixed‑signal, low‑power, and embedded electronics Work closely with cross‑functional teams including systems engineering, firmware, mechanical, quality, regulatory, and manufacturing Produce and develop documentation in line with Saluda’s QMS, including planning & implementing changes following the change control procedure, and engaging collaborators and reviewers to address feedback Provide regular updates to Project Managers on progress and risks Assist with verification and validation activities, including test planning, execution support, and results review Support troubleshooting and issue resolution during development, transfer to manufacturing, and post‑market activities Ensure designs and documentation comply with medical device standards and regulatory requirements (e.g. IEC 60601, ISO 13485) About you: Degree qualification in Electrical or Electronic Engineering (or equivalent) 5 years’ experience in electrical or electronic design, ideally within medical devices or regulated industries Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively across internal and external teams Experience developing engineering specifications and requirements Exposure to working with external suppliers, design houses, or contract manufacturers Understanding of system‑level considerations including power management, signal integrity, EMC, and safety Familiarity with design controls, verification processes, and regulated development environments Detail‑oriented, methodical, and comfortable balancing hands‑on technical work with coordination and review Self-motivated with excellent time management skills It’s not essential, but nice if you have: Experience with implantable or active medical devices Knowledge of low‑power or battery‑powered electronics Experience supporting manufacturing transfer and sustaining engineering activities Prior involvement in regulatory submissions or audits PCB Design with Altium or similar software Knowledge of analogue electronics, including circuit analysis and SPICE‑based simulation Proficiency using electrical modelling and simulation tools such as LTspice Strong programming fundamentals, including Embedded development (e.g. C) and higher‑level or scripting languages (e.g. Python, C#) Experience with Bluetooth or other RF system design, including regulatory and compliance testing Experience with Test Method Validation (TMV) and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) At Saluda, we challenge boundaries.
