As part of our Rail & Transit Systems (RTS) business, we are seeking an experienced Technical Trainer to play a critical role in developing the capability of our workforce at our Auburn facility. About the Role Reporting to the Learning & Development function and working closely with site and project leaders, the Technical Trainer will be responsible for developing, delivering and evaluating technical training that supports current and upcoming rail projects. This role is pivotal in ensuring new and existing employees have the knowledge, skills and competencies required to safely and effectively undertake overhauls, upgrades, testing and maintenance of rollingstock fleets, in line with Downer’s contractual and compliance obligations. You will also lead new starter technical orientations, conduct training needs analysis, develop or source training solutions, assess competency and maintain training records through Downer’s Learning Management System. Key Responsibilities Lead by example in promoting Downer’s Zero Harm culture Maintain personal and team accountability for safety and wellbeing Conduct Training Needs Analysis and skills gap analysis as required Develop technical training packages aligned to project templates and governance requirements Deliver training using appropriate methods and assess competency outcomes Administer training courses and assessments, maintaining accurate records Review training materials regularly to ensure currency, quality and relevance Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders to maximise training effectiveness About You Minimum 5 years’ experience in relevant trade (rail industry experience highly regarded) Relevant mechanical and/or electrical trade qualification Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (TAE40116) or equivalent (or willingness to obtain) Experience in a multi‑disciplined technical environment Rollingstock experience highly desirable Experience in driving and shunting (desirable) Demonstrated experience designing, developing and delivering technical training Strong MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Knowledge of the VET Quality Framework (advantageous) Why Join Downer?
