Assistant Production Leader Salary: $75,000 Super Roster: Rotating 8 hour shifts, 5 days across a 7 day roster (site operates 10am–10pm, 7 days) Team Size: 10–15 direct reports depending on operational demand About the Role We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly organised Assistant Production Leader to support the daily operations of a fast-paced manufacturing site. This role plays a key part in ensuring production runs efficiently, safely, and in line with food safety and quality standards. You will work closely with the Manufacturing Manager, team leaders, and production staff to deliver high quality products on time and in full, while maintaining a positive, collaborative, and safety-first work environment. Key Responsibilities Support daily manufacturing operations to meet production schedules and business requirements. Lead a safety-first culture and maintain strong food safety compliance, including HACCP standards and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Oversee staffing levels, timekeeping, and workforce planning to ensure efficient workflow within labour budgets. Communicate effectively with internal teams and external partners to action operational updates. Conduct regular site checks for product quality, cleanliness, and safety. Coach, mentor, and provide feedback to team members and team leaders to support capability development. Manage administrative duties related to order fulfilment, reporting, and training compliance. Participate in key operational meetings, including daily direction sessions, feedback discussions, and performance conversations. Lead focus areas such as manufacturing efficiency, inventory management, or people capability, depending on business needs. Support other Assistant Managers when required and step into delegated responsibilities during absences. Skills & Experience Essential: Strong time?management and prioritisation skills. Excellent communication with the ability to motivate and inspire others. Solid business acumen, with the ability to interpret operational reports and implement improvements. Understanding of budgeting, forecasting, labour planning, and materials management. Experience working with culturally diverse teams. Integrity and a commitment to ethical workplace practices. Minimum 3 years’ experience in food handling and/or manufacturing. Minimum 1 year in a leadership or managerial role . Experience with GMP and food safety procedures. Food Safety Certificate or equivalent industry experience. Desired: First Aid certification.
