ABOUT THE ROLE This is a critical, hands-on Payroll Officer role supporting the recent in-housing of four hotel operations. You’ll take ownership of weekly payroll for a high-volume casual workforce while ensuring compliance across complex hospitality awards and visa conditions. Alongside BAU processing, you’ll contribute to an upcoming payroll system migration, working closely with Finance, People & Culture and external providers. This role offers long-term stability and genuine progression, with future leadership opportunities as the team continues to evolve. DUTIES Process weekly payroll for hotel-based casual employees accurately and on time Verify hours, overtime, penalty rates and allowances in line with hospitality awards and agreements Maintain employee payroll data, including new starters, leavers and contract changes Monitor wage costs against budgets and provide labour reporting to stakeholders Support workforce planning through labour modelling for peak periods and events Administer PAYG, superannuation and statutory obligations Ensure compliance with payroll legislation, awards and internal governance frameworks Assist with payroll system migration and liaise with IT and external payroll providers Respond to employee payroll queries with clarity, discretion and professionalism SKILLS & EXPERIENCE 2–3 years’ experience in hands-on payroll processing Strong knowledge of wage calculations, penalty rates, overtime and allowances Experience working with payroll systems and payroll reporting Background in hospitality, hotels or a similar high-churn environment Sound understanding of Australian payroll legislation, awards and Fair Work requirements Experience administering PAYG, superannuation and statutory payments High attention to detail with the ability to meet tight deadlines Confident communication style with the ability to push back when needed Proven ability to handle confidential information with integrity BENEFITS Competitive salary with flexibility for strong candidates Permanent role with long-term stability Exposure to complex payroll environments and system migration projects Clear career progression opportunities as the team grows Work within a large, well-structured organisation OUR RECRUITMENT PROCESS At Lotus People, we are committed to fostering diversity, equity and inclusion.
