This is a remote position. ocation: ACT, NSW, VIC, QLD, SA, TAS (Hybrid) Clearance: Australian Citizenship required; must be able to obtain Baseline Security Clearance We are seeking an experienced Oracle Administrator / Data Architect to design, administer and optimise enterprise database platforms supporting critical government systems. The role is responsible for ensuring database performance, availability, security and compliance while collaborating with application, platform and architecture teams to deliver reliable, scalable and secure data solutions. Key duties and responsibilities Manage and administer Oracle and SQL Server database environments to ensure optimal performance, availability, reliability and security Design, document, implement and maintain database and infrastructure solutions aligned with enterprise architecture and business requirements Collaborate with platform, infrastructure and business application teams to resolve incidents, manage requests and deliver high‑quality database services Lead and contribute to technology initiatives including database lifecycle management, upgrades, patching and PaaS / cloud migrations Develop and maintain automation and monitoring solutions to improve operational efficiency, capacity management and performance visibility Implement and sustain security controls in line with organisational standards, the ISM and Essential Eight, ensuring data integrity and compliance Maintain and improve technical documentation, operating procedures and knowledge artefacts to support root cause analysis and continuous improvement Perform all duties in accordance with APS Values, Code of Conduct, WHS obligations and AFSA’s risk management framework Requirements Requirements Essential criteria 1. Demonstrated experience administering and supporting enterprise Oracle and SQL Server database environments , including performance tuning, availability, backup and recovery 25% 2. Proven experience designing and implementing database and infrastructure solutions, including lifecycle upgrades and cloud or PaaS migration activities 25% 3. Experience developing automation, monitoring and operational support solutions to improve system reliability, performance and efficiency 25% 4. Strong stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical and non‑technical teams in a regulated environment 25% Desirable criteria Relevant tertiary qualifications in Information Technology or equivalent industry experience Certifications in Oracle, SQL Server, Azure SQL or related database technologies Experience operating within APS or other highly regulated environments Knowledge of ISM, Essential Eight and security‑by‑design principles for data platforms
