The key duties of the position include The Role As a Systems Engineer for Joint Project 9101 Phase 1 (JP9101), you will provide specialist engineering assurance across the capability lifecycle for high-frequency (HF) communication systems. Your responsibilities include applying systems engineering principles to assess compliance, manage requirements, and identify risks within Defence governance frameworks. You will review technical documentation, validate that delivered systems meet performance and regulatory requirements, and provide expert advice to support capability outcomes. This role requires strong knowledge of systems engineering practices, familiarity with Defence standards, and the ability to operate within structured engineering processes to ensure technical integrity and interoperability This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP). This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Collective Agreement (DECA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability. Our Ideal Candidate Our ideal candidate is an experienced systems engineer with a sound understanding of assurance practices in complex or Defence environments. You should be able to interpret technical packages, manage requirements, and provide clear recommendations. Attributes such as analytical thinking, attention to detail, and effective stakeholder engagement are essential. A Bachelor of Engineering (or Washington Accord equivalent), experience in systems assurance or mission-critical projects, and eligibility for a security clearance will be highly regarded.
