Job Description The Opportunity We're working with a globally listed French industrial group operating across 40 countries to find a Finance Manager for their growing Australian subsidiary based in Townsville. This isn't a typical finance role where you slot into an existing team. You'll be the senior finance person on the ground, reporting directly to the APAC Regional CFO and working alongside the local Managing Director. You'll have full ownership of the finance function of budgeting, forecasting, reporting, month-end closings, cash management, audit preparation, and process improvement, with the autonomy to shape how things are done. The business is actively expanding across Australia and the wider Asia-Pacific region, with new projects, joint venture discussions, and acquisition opportunities in the pipeline. This role is designed to grow with the business, with real career progression into broader regional finance leadership as the footprint scales. What You'll Be Doing Leading annual budgeting, multi-year forecasting, and monthly reporting for Group submission Preparing financial statements and running variance analysis with clear commentary to senior leadership Coordinating month-end, semi-annual, and annual closings with local accountants Preparing the business for formal audit and managing external auditor relationships Building and improving reporting tools, financial processes, and internal controls from the ground up Partnering with operational managers on cost optimisation, business plans, and strategic projects Managing cash, banking relationships, and the transition from Xero to more sophisticated systems as the business grows What You'll Need 4 years in financial control, FP&A, or a mix of audit and industry finance Hands-on experience with financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and monthly reporting Solid audit experience or audit liaison background (external audit preparation is a key part of this role) CPA/CA qualified or equivalent Advanced Excel and comfort with accounting systems (Xero is a plus) Comfortable working autonomously as the sole finance person on the ground in a small, hands-on SME environment Fluent English.
